I started to explore my interest in horses at 7 years old when I started English riding lessons. This love grew into my teens when I attended youth camp at a western ranch in the Allegheny National Forest where I eventually became a youth camp councilor and trail guide. This position allowed me to work with children, to care for a large herd of horses and to trail ride daily in the beautiful forest that I loved! In the midst of these years, my family purchased several horses and I rode extensively. As a young adult, I attended Colorado State University where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Equine Science under some of the most respected horse professionals in the world. Some additional studies I pursued were in Agricultural Journalism and Child Psychology. I also competed on the university’s horse judging team, coached a 4H team and judged several horse shows in both CO and PA. My love of horses and children continued to grow with these new experiences.
After graduation, I had opportunities to teach lessons, train horses, manage a boarding barn, and facilitate a youth day camp at my family’s farm. More recently, I have worked as a veterinary assistant for 12+ years. I have also devoted some time to studying various aspects of Christian Counseling.
On a personal note, I am married to Scott and we live on the Shekinah ranch property. Sharing our home is our small terrier, Beverly, our golden retriever, Aslan, and our cat, Talitha. We also own two horses, Josiah and Chewie. Although I love the outdoors, children and animals, the most important aspect of my life is my relationship with my Lord, Jesus. He is the center of my existence and I try my best to live my life for His glory. I look forward to sharing His love with you as you visit and spend time on the ranch!
